Letterman in particular has been a vocal critic of CBS’ decision, most recently calling the network “lying weasels” in an interview with New York Timesjournalist Jason Zinoman: “He was dumped because the people selling the network to Skydance said, ‘Oh no, there’s not going to be any trouble with that guy. We’re going to take care of the show. We’re just going to throw that into the deal. When will the ink on the check dry?’ I’m just going to go on record as saying: They’re lying. Let me just add one other thing, Jason. They’re lying weasels.”
Heh. Sic, ‘em Dave.
Whatever he ends up doing is going to be far better than the late show. This will be a net win for the rest of us.
It does feel a bit like he’s had to soften his edges a bit for the format. It’ll be nice to see him have a little more room.
It’ll be like when Conan got dropped from the Tonight Show. Did he deserve the opportunity to take over that position, absolutely. But that show wants to be sterile and generic, he’s better outside of that. Colbert’s audience will follow him, and at some point maybe we’ll be in the same death camp together for a farewell performance!
I’m surprised they didn’t invite any comedians
Ooooooh damn
So the two Jimmy’s that made a career out of vomiting low effort pop culture bullshit and then some good, actual talent.
Fallon is much worse. Completely talentless, doesn’t know how to interview, doesn’t know when it’s best to let the interviewee speak, apolitical in a world where that’s no longer appropriate, comes up with the lamest comedy bits.
