OP here, inorder to save time and reduce the data load in the lemmy instance server, I upload the image url instead of the actual image and a good percertage of them are from reddit. But I use Voyager and have never faced an issue in viewing the images.
I think they get more via advertisement money. Even if I block everything with ublock they can see the referral (I’m coming from lemmy) and I don’t really know what else they can gather from my data, ip and whatnot. Also traffic so they rank higher in page view lists, so they can ask for more money from advertisers.
But the biggest problem is I can’t see the image because it’s blocked, and I can’t fix it on my end, I can just click on the link, but then why should I even follow f1 news here if I have to go to reddit anyway…
Idk if it’s voyager fucking up or not but I’m never able to see these posts, I just get a message saying that the media wouldn’t load.
It’s an instance issue. I’m also seeing error on this account, but not some of my alts.
That’s an instance or an internet issue, I think. Image loads correctly on voyager for me.

Some instances are blocked by reddit (or reddit blocked by the instance?). I can’t see the image in the webui either, not just in voyager.
Please reupload it somewhere I don’t want to support reddit by downloading an image from them.
Technically I think you’re costing Reddit money for bandwidth.
