first im not good at linux i chose mint cuz i just want it to work
on my main machine the mic produces just random noise
while on my secondary one the mic works no problem
basically every detail on my device is available on the linux mint forum
altho i posted this due to it being almost 3 months and a thousand views without comments so i decided to comment it here

after recent testing it seems like it is a hardware issue and not a os, bios, dependency, ect issue

where the mic doesnt pick up anything and produces usb noise

(the mic isnt the problem as it works on my phone and my secondary machine)

its a generic jack microphone (ill add specs here and on mint page)
i have tried connecting multiple mic with the same problem
i also tried connecting it to the back of the pc with similar results
and the other os thing is kinda hard to do due to limited space on drives

mic specs as written on box
    freq range 35-18 hz
    sensitivity -30db +/- 3db 0db=1v/pa, 1kz
    connector 3.5 trrs connection
also wanna add its most like an os problem as b4 mint i used to run windows with microphones fine

You can try another os in a live usb environment, without installing. It’s important so you can be sure it’s not something in the hardware. I once had some problem with noise, and it took me years to find the cause. I even bought a usb sound card to be able to use a mic. In the end, it was a problem in the power source generating interference (probably along with poor isolation).

In the software side, have you tried using alsamixer or a similar tool to 1- mute everything not related to the mic and the output 2 - lower the mic volume (high mic volume can generate noise)? It’s also worth checking if you have conflicting sound servers or something like that. Have you installed anything related to sound, or are you using the defaults?

okay so i think it may be hardware related cuz it doesnt pickup my voice at all like it produces the usb noise when plugged in (when recording or when it is in the sound menu) i disabled enabled and changed everything in alsa with no diff i mean when lowering the mic audio the noise gets lowered i dont think i installed anything but if i did it prolly was a dependency for something like reaper or some other app im going to live boot fedora rn using ventoy will update after testing is there any other oses i should test too?

after testing it on fedora it still does the same glitch where it doesnt pick up anything and produces usb noise
