            Gough Whitlam was couped in 1975 by the CIA with help from the queen of england. Even Australian labour was to radical for them.

    There’s no reason to read a gringo’s opinion on the global South, ever.

    That said, as a Brazilian, I do think the fact the entirety of LATAM speaks Spanish but we speak Portuguese held back how much we exchange culturally with each other, and ultimately, partially explains why Mercosul is so slow to move towards an EU style union.

      fidel-salute solidarity with Brazil from another LATAM person. Ironic how (at least online) we communicate in English so often because it’s more common for a Spanish or Portuguese speaking latine person to know English than the other language.

      Pretty much. Although I have some unique perspective because I lived in RS for half a year, but I only dipped my toes slightly into gaucho culture. Someone even called me a gringo offhandedly and it was really weird culture shock.
