It’s especially “based” that for most of us the government has all this information already, yet requires us to resubmit it using paid software because they lobby Congress to prevent automatic filing 😎
I’m on the freetaxusa train which does free federal and I think my state with be free as well (if not it’s like $15)
Also have used FreeTaxUSA for a few years. Dont waste your time with turbotax
I don’t qualify for it lol because of course it’s means tested 🙄
One year I was like fuck it I will do it with the free filing solution which is basically just a spreadsheet where you have to fill in all the cells, but you still have to do the worksheets and everything. It took me all weekend 😂
Freetaxusa is always free for federal, they’re just also under the Free File program that would make them offer it for free under the threshold if it wasn’t already. Might be out of luck for the $15.99 for state though :/
And yeah the manual filing seems fucked

We live in hell, but look into Cash App Taxes. They let you do federal and one state for free
