building the perfect Linux PC
Intel GPU
Some things don’t add up.
Linus apparently chose it themselves And… Yeah, I would also use an intel GPU…
I was hearing reports of widespread artifacting and well below Win11 performance at launch, has this improved enough for it to be a good recommendation over AMD?!
Not if you play games and want things to work 99% of the time. Things are a lot better than they were, but this exact problem came up in the Bazzite discord server recently where some of the devs are testing them and there’s been videos by lots of creators comparing their results to previous years. If you don’t game or don’t mind inconsistent results for the cost, then yes. Linus Torvalds does not meaningfully ‘game’ to the extent that this is a problem for him. All he cares about is that it lets him do his work and use his displays.

Yeah but the B580 is 250€. The RX 7600 XT and RTX 4060 are 400€.
The Intel cards really don’t seem that bad if you don’t want to spend silly amounts of money.
7600xt is a deprecated product, that’s above its’ launch pricing as a result.
The 350€ 9060XT is its’ current gen replacement.
If you do nothing but some flash games and youtube perhaps,
Full HD, 60 fps, ultra settings on modern games really doesn’t seem that unreasonable.
For browsing and light gaming you don’t need a dedicated GPU at all.
Ok so am I reading these graphs wrong? It seems the B580 barely gets 30fps at 4k Ultra and scrapes under 60fps at 1080 Ultra which is not Full HD 60fps Ultra.
Which Linus?
Torvalds
Nvidia should have paid for that Linux Foundation platinum membership.
