My understanding is that Matrix is a nonprofit.
Mama told me not to come.
She said, that ain’t the way to have fun.

I’m suggesting that their balance sheet looks off. Matrix should primarily be spending money on developers and infrastructure.
The boss earning what seems to be $170k isn’t a ton for that position, and it’s a fairly small piece of the pie. Even if the boss took no pay, they’re still spending a lot of money on non-development and hosting tasks. I would like to see “Other Staff” increase at the expense of everything except hosting costs.
What’s with the “Trust and Safety” bit? And are the events really necessary?
Edit: okay, it and “Trust and Safety” has something to do with moderation. They could probably get volunteers to do a lot of that though.
Ah, makes sense. It’s easy enough to duplicate the outer ENV for the sub-process, but I don’t know what that means for security and whatnot.
Sure. I guess it would depend on how complex that is, but surely the sudo command already does validations, so it would just need to have the editor write to a temporary file (which is a copy of the official one) and write once it’s validated, right?
It sounds doable in a few months.
Sudo uses the setuid bit or whatever, so it still has access to the user’s environment variables and whatnot. So figuring out which editor to run shouldn’t be an issue.
They’ve got a few months to get it done, and it shouldn’t be that hard, no? Just exec EDITOR as a child process, no?
There really should be another level to it:
Tinker: runs fine with some in-game config or with Steam OS tools like Steam Input
It would exclude any lower level tweaks like changing launch args or using a special Proton version, those can stay unsupported. Basically, if you can get it working well intuitively without looking stuff up online, it should have some level of support.
I’ve played several “unsupported” games that work fine, so something should be done here.
I’m in the unfortunate position of being someone’s boss, and I had to have a frank discussion with an employee who wanted special treatment about how replaceable they are. That conversation sucks, because if I had more autonomy, I’d grant more privileges to everyone (i.e. more WFH).
My advice: don’t make yourself replaceable, your employer isn’t worth it. Instead, make yourself an attractive hire, so you can always jump ship if your corp pulls something (and they will).
Switch between left and right and you’ve got a party!
What, and add to the climate crisis with more single use plastics?
Well, some of the outfits are pretty close already, and they definitely have some jiggle, haven’t yet played it so I can’t say whether it’s realistic.
Learn to use a mouse left handed, it’s worth it. ;)
There are some 7-8" tablets that could probably fit in a pocket, but finding the perfect mix of Linux compatibility and cell chip is going to be difficult.
However, I see a few Linux tablets out there that have to be all runs, because Linux tablets are a pretty small niche, so it might not be that expensive to build one yourself.
Domain registration and renewal is at cost, and DNS is free. I’m not sure what’s detrimental to the internet about that…
My paid hosting is elsewhere, so they’re not making any money off me.
Lol, that’s some dangerous waters you’re treading in.
I use it for DNS and domain hosting, but that’s it, none of their proxying stuff.
Sounds like a tablet, and that very well could be easier for someone to build than a phone.
Force them to jump in the tutorial, and solve the main boss thing through normal storytelling, whichever way makes sense for your game. If the only time you need to know something is late game and there’s nothing to remind you mid-game, that’s poor design.
Which is why my phone lies to me and 100% is actually 80%.
