What’s a backup solution…? (I’m only being half sarcastic, I really need to set one up, but it’s not as “fun” as the rest of my homelab, open to suggestions)

From those, I’m only currently using a handful.

Science@mander.xyz•‘Smart underwear’ measures how often humans fart
3·3 days agoNot sure how smart undies could accomplish that. Unless they come with some sort of insertable environmental monitoring probe…
Tossup between “buy Bitcoin now” and “you are autistic”
The first one, because, obviously. The second one, because I didn’t find out until I was in my 30s. My lemmy account is older than my diagnosis.

2·15 days ago“Now, the latest study shows that on top of killing the host queen, T kinomurai also reproduces asexually by producing clones of itself, and tricks the surviving host workers into rearing the offspring.”
So do the clones then convince the workers to kill the original clone? Repeat until the colony falls apart because workers aren’t being produced?

4·20 days agoAs scummy as it is, it’s still how they make their living. Not at all taking their side, but I get pissed when someone wastes my time at work too. No idea how their pay structure is, but if it’s commission based, yea, more anger for having time wasted make sense
That’s a big ol grenis

16·25 days agoI once handed in my two weeks notice less than a week after finally getting an overdue promotion. Was laughing my ass off internally while saying thanks for the raise, I had to wait a few more days for my 401k to fully vest, then bailed

11·27 days agoOnlyPhones is the future they want. Walled gardens and highly addictive apps and subscriptions and micro transactions. Freedom and real compute power will be locked away in their servers. And the top of the line phones are already expensive enough that pretty much everyone that has one is on a payment plan for it

14·1 month agoThere’s some tech blog/news site (can’t recall the name right now) that tries to shame me into turning off my ad blocker and viewing their ads with an extra pop up
“Hey! We noticed your browser isn’t displaying ads. Can you…”
HAHA NO
Thanks for the interesting info! I figured it was used somewhere, just hadn’t seen it.
And reminded me of the unit I saw once that I hate the most. Kilofeet… Not kidding. Apparently used in telecommunications as a unit of length for spools of cable, probably for similar reasons of easier math but couldn’t fully switch from the US standard.
AcKsHuLlY it could also be in rankine
I’m being pedantic as fuuuuuck because I’ve never actually seen it used in real life. For those that don’t know, it’s similar to Kelvin in that 0 is actually absolute zero, but the degree step sizes are the same as fahrenheit

I at least have external backups for important family pics and docs! But yea the homelab itself is severely lacking. If it dies, I get to start from scratch. Been gambling for years that “I’ll get around to a backup solution before it dies”. I wouldn’t bet on me :|
