Pretty much. Greedy publishers are just following Nintendo’s lead that they can fleece gamers for more.

Are you referring to that chromatic hat guy? I’m in act 2 and I’ve spent about an hour trying to get one of his moves and it’s just not clicking with all of that delay and audio cues for me.
Now you know and no worries if you decide to do the romance path and watch the sex scene, other players won’t be made aware. :)

It’s still good to be reminded that corporations are not your friend and we should be demanding better with our wallets.
The biggest things for me is that I hate having to turn the music down in game to be able to hear the parrying cues.
includes a feature named “EnterDownloadMode” which the code comments notes, “Enter a low power mode for downloads and get a handle that will keep this mode active until all obtained handles are dropped”.
Which will automatically put it in patient gamer territory for me.

Yeah, sad that this is the crap people have to resort to “fix” a bad standard and a even worse implementation.
Most gamers are stuck with lower end hardware because they can’t afford anything anymore.
I mean honestly, yeah. With a simple 4 GB chip they could have won the low end and not screwed over gamers.
They’ve really seemed to have forgotten their roots with the GPU market, which is a damn shame.

Increased resolution has been the trend for a bit now even in these competitive games.
ETA, let’s also not pretend that those who play esports games only play esports games too.
A whole week isn’t what I would call a “very limited time” but at the same time, best of luck to them.

Let’s look at specifically Nintendo here since we’re talking about Super Mario 64

2001, 664 million in profit, adjusted for inflation in 2022 dollars, 1 billion.
2022, 1.7 billion dollars in profit.
You forget that in 1996 the gaming pool was also magnitudes smaller compared to today and despite all of the whining about increased development costs, which I also think is bullshit but that’s a different conversation, profits have increased to keep up.
So my opinion, no there’s absolutely no justification for a 80 dollar price point when you look at the over all picture.
