  • There’s a little tool that will help to seat the rubber stems. It has a cap on one end that screws on to the end of the new valve stem after you’ve put it through the wheel, and then that cap is hinged on a longish metal stick. Use the stick as a lever to pull the stem through to its fully seated and installed position.

Or, as another commenter said, get a stem that fastens in with a nut. You might want to put a dab of blue threadlocker on the nut before tightening it down to keep it from coming loose. This will make it hard to remove later, but not impossible. If you do end up needing to remove it later for some reason, heat it up with a torch first to melt the threadlocker if it gives you trouble. (This will probably ruin the valve core, so take that out first.)

  • That’s not for the court to do. That he was charged and convicted of terrorism is. The fact that he’s a fascist and did this to forward those politics was surely the basis of the terroism charge and conviction.

This story, though, won’t see wide publication. Hell, I wasn’t even aware of it until just now, in the wake of his conviction - not when it happened. And there’s absolutely a lot of people who will just wave it off as “Oh he was a crazy loner.” (Yeah, that’s the fucking point, of course; the fascists are crazy.)

  • Plague is a bacterial infection known as “The Black Death” …

This may not be true. Bubonic plague was certainly the cause of later epidemics, but the Black Death was very possibly something else that we don’t have other examples of. We don’t really know with certainty what it was.

    Edit: Well, I’m wrong!

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Death#DNA_evidence

Definitive confirmation of the role of Y. pestis arrived in 2010 with a publication in PLOS Pathogens by Haensch et al.[4][c] They assessed the presence of DNA/RNA with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) techniques for Y. pestis from the tooth sockets in human skeletons from mass graves in northern, central and southern Europe that were associated archaeologically with the Black Death and subsequent resurgences. The authors concluded that this new research, together with prior analyses from the south of France and Germany, “ends the debate about the cause of the Black Death, and unambiguously demonstrates that Y. pestis was the causative agent of the epidemic plague that devastated Europe during the Middle Ages”.[4] In 2011 these results were further confirmed with genetic evidence derived from Black Death victims in the East Smithfield burial site in England. Schuenemann et al. concluded in 2011 “that the Black Death in medieval Europe was caused by a variant of Y. pestis that may no longer exist”.[59]

While there remains some suggestion that the Black Death was airborne transmission, and not only by fleas, that DNA research stands pretty strongly.

  • Fine. Since I’m apparently “rude,” I’ll elaborate.

Your wife goes missing. As the spouse, you are the prime suspect. The police are far less interested in finding your wife than they are in arresting the person they think is responsible for your wife’s being missing. They are going to interrogate you, in one of those tiny rooms with no windows where they put themselves between you and the door, and get more and more inside your personal space. For hours, and they’re going to treat you as though you are guilty, because they want you to confess to a crime. They want you to incriminate yourself.

You’re already super stressed about your wife being missing, maybe you’re wondering where your kids are and the stress they’re under. Do you have a dead solid alibi? Are you sure? The police are allowed to lie to you; you are not allowed to lie to them. Are you certain you won’t even misspeak? Because what you consider a mistake, they will consider a lie, and that makes you even more a suspect. Are there any other uncomfortable facts in your life? Affairs, money trouble, arguments, drugs? Is anyone undocumented? All that shit is about to come out, all that shit will be used against you.

Are you mentally capable of navigating this situation, where there’s a real chance of your being imprisoned for who knows how long? No, you are not.

Unless you want to load more trouble on top of the trouble that’s already there, you will not speak to the police without your lawyer present.
