Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•In your opinion, what is the most convenient Lemmy web interface on a phone?
5·10 天前I like the mbin interface much better than Lemmy itself.

3·11 天前Ohh, I’m going to try that, thanks!

Cooking @lemmy.world•What’s your go‑to “I don’t want to cook but I have to” meal?
4·11 天前Pasta aglio olio peperonici
- Cook pasta in salt water as described on the package
- Put a thick layer of olive oil in a small saucepan on low heat
- Add pressed garlic and a finely chopped chilli pepper. Make sure the oil stays cool enough not to fry the garlic and chilli. It’s just to flavour the oil.
- Drain the pasta, add the oil, top with too much parmesan cheese
If you want to fancy it up, fry some sliced mushrooms and/or pancetta and add it in.

Games@lemmy.world•Meta progression in roguelites was fun for a while, but it's starting to feel unrewarding
6·12 天前I agree. I couldn’t finish Hollow Knight because my reaction times just aren’t what they used to be. It sucked because otherwise I love that game. I haven’t even attempted Silksong.

3·13 天前Switching can be hard sonetimes. At work we still have a few Ubuntu 20.04 LTS machines that need to be replaced.
I’m about 40 hours deep into “Star Rupture”, a pretty fun factory builder / survival / tower defense game that was recently released in early access. I really like it so far.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Anyone have any experience with gmx.com e-mail service?
2·13 天前If the service is free, then you are the product. Just pay for mail. Someone here mentioned Posteo. I use Soverin.net. It costs peanuts. Also, make sure you get your own domain name. It makes migrating email to a different provider trivial. It’s really worth the 10 or so Euro per year.

13·13 天前Your first mistake was using Ubuntu on a production server. Canonical has made more than enough questionable decisions over the past decade that using Ubuntu for a production system should be a red flag.
Ori was pretty doable for me. It helps that death has no penalty and resuming is instant. But I couldn’t get through Hollow Knight and I didn’t even attempt Silksong. I’m too old for that shit. Literally, I don’t have the reaction time anymore.

3·19 天前That’s a given I think. If you can’t trust the OS then you can’t trust the client.

Games@lemmy.world•Steam Owner Valve Faces $900 Million Lawsuit Over PC Monopoly Claims, Following UK Tribunal Ruling - IGN
51·19 天前Hah, not from me! It won’t be the first time that I buy a game on Steam that I previously played for free on EGS, just so I can buy the DLC. I will never spend a cent on EGS.

Technology@lemmy.world•Lawsuit Alleges That WhatsApp Has No End-to-End Encryption
71·19 天前With e2e you don’t need to trust the servers. You only need to trust the client that does the encryption.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you play an instrument? If so, which one(s) and how proficently?
3·24 天前I play the clarinet pretty well, and the trumpet decently-ish. I can get a sound out of a lot of instruments though. At home I also have an acoustic guitar, a keyboard, bagpipes and a euphonium.

Gaming was always expensive. Super Mario 3 was 50 dollars in 1990. That’s 120 dollars in today’s money.
