News@lemmy.world•AI gold rush sees tech firms embracing 72-hour weeks
3·1 month agoJust wait until AI will take most of these jobs. Then the rest can finally work 100+ hour a week. Yeah bro!
Fun story: I made the exact same joke when someone was showing me a Japanese digital bidet toilet in a bathroom showroom. Turns out I was not the first one pointing this out, the guy told me with pokerface that most of these toilets have a sensor and the wash function only activates when it detects someone sitting on it. Also the nozzle retracts and its not exposed during toilet use and its disinfected with hot water automatically, so probably the water coming from it is just as clean as directly from the tap.
The more you know…

Just watched the first part of the modern Poirot movies with the Oriont Express and the main character had the most badass mustache, I could barely pay attention to the story when he was on the screen, it was mesmerising.

Also separate airports and train stations without people blinded by holiday brain.

Europe@feddit.org•Every region and demographic group is convinced that London is an unsafe place to live except... LondonersEnglish
12·2 months agoSpent a quick decade in London. IMHO the biggest issue by far are kids drinking and/or doing drugs and causing trouble.
I was commuting during night a lot to work, regularly went to concerts/gigs/pubs and its not worst than any other big city as far as I can tell. With some common sense its a fairly safe destination to anyone who is not actively looking for trouble.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Euro-Lemmings: do you see common charger rules beyond computer devices?
3·3 months agoThere are still plenty of non-C gadgets, but I can see a trend that people want USB-C more and more.
I was just shopping for some rechargable flashlights and it was a common thing to see reviews mentioning the lack of USB-C as a negative in reviews.

Technology@lemmy.world•Building the PERFECT Linux PC with Linus TorvaldsEnglish
137·3 months agoLinus (S) went extra annoying for 2/3 of the vid. He managed to be sort of professional and asked some decent questions, but for the majority of the time he was putting on a performance for the LTT crowd.

During character creation the lightning on the model is completely different what you will see in game and I end up with an ugly character (Dragon’s Dogma, Saints Row 3 remaster, etc.)

Now thats a blast from the past

Thanks for posting this. Its good to see people with a completely different mindset showing alternative solutions can work, sometimes better than the original.
I live in the EU, but we still have serious car brain problem on the roads. Still not enough cycle paths.
