True, they are quite durable. And it makes perfect sense. Otherwise the companies would have to spend considerably more on repairs or replacements, and potentially go out of business. Though sometimes people overestimate this sturdiness (or more likely just don’t care). In Romania, or at least in Bucharest, it’s quite common to find rental scooters thrown in the river. Not sure if they’re able to survive it.

Linux@lemmy.ml•The anti-minimalist backlash is the bigger story behind Oxygen’s revival
8·1 day agoOne good thing about minimalist GUIs is they’re much easier to optimize. Of course, you can still fuck it up, especially if your name is Microslop. Amazing how relatively demanging monochromatic rectangles with no animations can be.
You don’t have to optimize rounded corners, blur or fancy animations if you don’t code them in at all. Not necessarily the best approach, but at least there’s a positive. Everything can be messed up easily, but not everything can be done right easily.
I live in Europe. I once completely crashed one, along with myself, due to a huge pothole. Even though it’s totally obvious what happened based on speed data alone, they never reached out to me about it.
Should be noted it was fully functional, just probably scratched, maybe the handlebar slightly misaligned.
Green means good. Do you stop at green lights or red lights?

9·1 day agoCan I get a tl;dr for someone who isn’t into 3d printing (yet)? I like to know about companies to avoid and why, but it’ll still be a while before I get into 3d printing.
And it sucks.
Sounds like just the perfect match for you!

Good point, but I think we all know that’s not the reason.

1·2 days agoI was shocked when I found out how good my GameSir Super Nova is. Hands down the best controller I’ve ever used, with a fantastic docking station that can just be combined with a dongle. And it costs less than a regular Xbox/PlayStation/Nintendo controller.
Punchable? I’d say it’s shootable with an AR-15.

Not possible. Bananas are rich in potassium and potassium explodes upon contact with water.
Of course. I just thought the comment was very egg_irl-like.

Technology@lemmy.world•Jensen Huang says Nvidia now has 'zero percent' market share in China — says US export policy 'has already largely backfired'English
4·10 days agoOh, that will definitely happen in the near future. At least one Chinese company is already making solid GPUs, but with terrible drivers. Once they work on the software side, they should be viable for everyday use. Probably no competition for a 5080 or 5090, but lower models at half the price.

Hold on… Okay, so what you’re saying is… Locking games behind one platform, especially a dying one, leads to significantly fewer copies sold? I’m speechless. How is that even possible? If only we could figure out a way to foresee such events…
