  • What will happen is that politicians will see this as another reason to push for everyone having their ID associated with their Internet traffic.

Yes, because like or not that’s the only possible solution. If all traffic was required to be signed and the signatures were tied to an entity then you could refuse unsigned traffic and if signed traffic was causing problems you’d know who it was and have recourse.

I don’t like this solution but it’s the only way forward that I can see.

  • what would be the solution?

Simple, not allowing anonymous activity. If everything was required to be crypto-graphically signed in such a way that it was tied to a known entity then this could be directly addressed. It’s essentially the same problem that e-mail has with SPAM and not allowing anonymous traffic would mostly solve that problem as well.

Of course many internet users would (rightfully) fight that solution tooth and nail.

  • … and he will be released.

It doesn’t work like that. The only way he gets out is if the Governor of Minnesota orders it and Gov. Tim Walz wouldn’t.

He doesn’t care about mechanisms because that’s for someone else to worry about.

There ISN’T a mechanism, it simply doesn’t exist. Trump can write the pardon if he wants but it would be meaningless. It wouldn’t remove the conviction, wouldn’t end his sentence, and wouldn’t effect his release.

It’d be like Germany issuing a pardon for someone convicted of a crime in Spain and trying to order them released. They can issue the pardon and make the order but there’s absolutely no way to enforce it short of direct military action.

  • Yeah, typical Americans - won’t look elsewhere for solutions…

We have those all over the place. Large National Parks like Yosemite are a special corner of hell because you quite literally have hordes of tourists from all over the world visiting on a daily basis. Randos who’ve rarely ever left the city see a can like that and may not know how to use it. In a place like Yosemite that rando could easily be from anywhere in the world.

Meanwhile I know of dozens of these kinds of cans located in some very small parks and camping areas here in Wyoming and no one has any problems with them at all.

Us “Americans” have those cans already and many of us know how to use them. You’ll need to find some other kind of shit to sling around.
