For the season finale of Movie Mindset, Will and Hesse are joined by Stress Positions director Theda Hammel to talk about two more films starring Vincent Price: William Castle’s The House on Haunted Hill (1959) and Andre de Toth’s House of Wax (1953).
Disney, Spoilers about Great Mouse Detective.
These Vincent Price roles reminded me of another performance of his, as Professor Ratigan. It this Villainous character, Price also uses a mechanical robot as a means of deception! He kidnaps a toymaker to build a realistic, mechanical mouse-queen-Victoria, then he forces the real mouse-queen-Victoria to marry him so he can do Thatcherite reforms 80 years Early. Ratigan is also an example of Vincent Price having a keen understanding of exactly the movie that he’s in. Like he’s always a villain, but here he is playing this giant rat perfectly for a kids’ movie
