I got a TDeck Plus for my tweenager and was pleased with the distance it got with an external antenna…but the battery is terrible and I’m not sure the antenna would survive in his backpack.
The T-Lora Pager seems like what he needs, but saw a review that the buttons are not durable.
Anyone have a mesh device they really like for kid use?
More about the TDeck battery: It is also horribly slow to charge. You can leave it charging overnight and only get to 60%. This AND the battery eating make it a difficult choice for the use case of being an all-day phone substitute for a kid with few good options for daytime charging (cause they’re at school).
That said, I’m two T-Decks deep already. I could double down and get bigger custom 3D printed backs for them to stuff in more mAh, but that’s another $40-60 USD. Is it throwing good money after bad?
